Earthquake and Tsunami Relief

The Nippon Initiative is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. A relief fund has been established to assist victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck northeastern Honshu island in March of 2011.

Gifts to the fund will be distributed to ministries very close to situations at ground zero. One example is a home for the elderly operated by Kurigoma Kogen Baptist Church in Miyagi Prefecture, the prefecture where the city of Sendai is located. Funds are also needed to provide supplies and encourgement for displaced people still living in temporary housing. National pastors are leading this effort, working tirelessly to come alongside of those in need. Many refugees feel forgotten and left behind, now that the disaster has moved off the headlines.

Other specific projects will be highlighted in the near future. Your gift is needed and greatly appreciated. In a recent edition of Newsweek, well-known travel writer, Paul Theroux wrote: "History has shown that Japan has a long memory, and that the kindness to it now will never be forgotten."

This is your opportunity to join with many others to make the love of Christ tangible to Japanese people. Will you help?
